Hottest topic in Malta?

Events, Music, Shopping 12:49 am 911 Words  Respond?

Let’s start of by looking at what came in the mail yesterday - yes!!! My Jrock, Ink book!!! It features over 40 mini j-rock band biographies and some really awesome original and creative illustrations of the bands. I mainly bought it for the illustrations (yes! they are THAT good!) - and if you don’t beleive me here is a sneak peek of it (from top to bottom - Sheena Ringo, Dir en Grey & Malice Mizer):

Sheena Ringo

Dir en Grey

Malice Mizer

& Other pics : Psycho le Cému x Kaggra x L’Arc~en~Ciel x Due’le quartz. There was no D’espairsRay though… which pretty much sucks as they have become one of my favourite bands. The Gackt illustration isn’t that great either *sigh* … anyway, i won’t be scanning the book online :| so don’t beg - i’ll only distribute some images to a few close friends ^^ (so yes you’ll get them, if you’re lucky enough :P)

On to talk about the Hottest Topic in Malta… Well, what everyone is talking about here in malta? The Malta Song for Europe (MSFE) finals which were held last Saturday, of course! Over here we make a huge big deal out of it. It’s like, one of the biggest musical festival of the year and most of us never miss it for the world … Well i don’t usually watch the local festival (i usually only watch the international competition, or else just the votes at the end :P) - it’s just that it’s not “my cup of tea” … but this year i decided to watch the local festival for a change :P And what was the outcome? Boring. I pretty much guessed the winner even before watching it. I mean there were only 6 finalists. And only one, Olivia Lewis, was what we maltese classify as the ‘local celebrity’. All the rest were either newbees or little known, so there wasn’t any big threat for her. So yeah in the end Olivia won with “Vertigo” (click name for performance during the night) gaining over 30,977 votes from the public televoting. Trilogy came in secong with “Starlight” (7,647 votes) & Klinsmann Coleiro with “She gives me wings” came in third (7,550). Well while wishing Olivia best of luck, we all hope that she improves that voice… or else we can kiss the finals in Helsinki bye bye :P ! One of my personal favourites was from a group named Scar with their song “As long as you know” - their song was simply amazing, definetely something different than the usual happy love-song / pop kind of thing - they actually made me & my family spill votes on them (& they made me go out there and download the mp3 haha) The other finalist which made us actually vote for was Klinsmann , the song which came 3rd. i actually think the band members look cute (Am i mad?? … My bf keeps teasing me about this lollll) their song sounds like it came right out of a Greenday album (… what a scary description) - but then again, better than the usual love-pop-thing isn’t it? - and it’s such a catchy tune! … and doesn’t Klinsmann (the blonde guy singing wearing red) look like he’s wearing something out of a My Chemical Romance video 8O ??? Some of the finalists got there because of some really big advertising. All 6 of them (except for Scar, but correct me if i’m wrong) appear on local tv / radio stations, actively take part in popular tv programs, have filled like almost everywhere with posters… and one i’ve seen advertising in the local Public Bus Channel (yes, our buses have got tvs in them :P) … That’s why i prefer having a 50% jury - 50% public vote to decide the winner rather than 100% public televoting since the public gets influenced waaaaaaaaay to easily… well, what do you think?

wow, the Jrock pictures are awesome! You really made a good bargain on Amazon! And about the Malta Song for Europe… I’ ve been watching the finalists on TV here with my boyfriend’s family, but I don’t really know them xD Some look good as singers though. I can’t judge though. P.S. Do you know a Daniel Borg in your class or school? Because my boyfriend’s brother attends your same school.

I agree with you, the contest judging should be 50% by judge and % by public. Well, is that Olivia your favourite? If yes, be happy, hehe..

Oh my. The Malice Mizer one is very good. Actually makes Klaha look hot =3

My site will hopefully return end february - begin march. Cause I have holidays soon, and I’ll be cosplaying as Mana (I will take pictures!). And of course, the week after that, on the second of march, it’s mine and Hizumi’s birthday *hint**hint*

So I’ll be having time then. I have quite the work to do =p Redo wtd.net work on the Diru fansite and plus I’m doing this music exchange thing with a friend of mine (I do Jrock, she does powermetal/folkmetal/whatever)
