This year i made it on time to take part in Blog Action day & i’m glad i did!! This year’s subject is about poverty. We hear so much about poverty and there are a lot of great charities working towards reducing this global problem … everyone’s always making fund raising marathons, going door to door to collect money for the poor … but it never seems enough does it?
Here are seven simple habits that can be easily practiced by anyone. By just incorporating small activities in our daily lifestyle we could make a real difference to these people’s lives ![]()
- Sponsor a Child - There are a lot of local programmes which encourage citizens to sponsor children / families / volunteers for a meere sum a month (some of them also accept any donations of any kind). Some websites which offer such a service are: compassion.com, savethechildren.org, children.org, soschildrensvillages.org.uk & worldvision.org
- Support Fair Trade - Look out for shops and products which support fair trade. Sure the item might cost more, but you’ll be helping poor workers getting the pay they’re really worth!
- Look out for special products – Some shops and products donate a percentage of the profit to non-profit organisations and charity, one such shop is igive.com
- Be more Environmentally Friendly -The simplest thing to do for your environment is not to over-consume, use re-usable material instead of plastic & recycle recycle recycle!! … Because saving our land and the planet we live in does matter.
- Visiting Charity Websites - And actively taking part. Websites which should find their way in everyone’s bookmarks include: makepovertyhistory.org, thehungersite.com, thechildhealthsite.com, children.care2.com, stopviolence.care2.com, solvepoverty.com, povertyfighters.com, thestophivsite.com, giveaminute.org, freerice.com, freeflour.com, hungerfighters.com, hungrychildren.com, charitywater.org, trainforhumanity.org
- Organize a CSR day - CSR stands for CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY DAY. Why not send a suggestion to your company’s HR manager and organize a day where the employees can dedicate it to help others? It doesn’t have to be a whole day, just one afternoon, or afterwork can make a world of difference! It’s also a great opportunity to do some networking with your colleagues don’t you think??

- Donate your day’s earnings – Finally, if you’re a blogger who does sponsored posts for extra income like me… Would it be so hard just to donate 1 day’s earnings to a charity of your choice just once a year? … Think about it.

Those are really good tips. Me and my family sponsor a child and it’s really fun. We write her letters and send small gifts. It’s so nice to do something good for someone else.
