Seek out their hobbies – Casually ask for them or do some research yourself – what do they like to do in their free time?? Do they play a particular sports? Do they support a particular soccer team or football team? Are they on their school’s cheerleading team? Do they like to read?
Public profile – Myspace, Friendster, Facebook, hi5 etc … there are a million social networking websites nowadays! In most of them people like to list out a whole encyclopedia worth of details about themselves!! There are some social networking websites who have a wishlist feature with them as well! Look out for those!
Fish out their needs – Hmm their gym bag’s too old? Do they need new clothes? Have they lost something they love in the last few months and haven’t bought it yet?
Look about their room – Next time you’re in their room try and look around! Most people love to decorate their room in their own style, giving you an excellent idea of what they love! You can also use this idea to get them something to decorate their room with!! ![]()
Feed their obsession – Do they collect something? Are they a handbag fiend (like my mom!)? Do they have a collection of used cigarette lighters? Or are they a shoe-a-holic?? Feed out their obsession by getting them a new worthy piece for their collection or a voucher to continue to expand their obsessive behaviour! They’ll absolutely love you for that
!

Neat ideas. I’m trying to figure out what to get my family this year and I think this will help. I always seem to just get them knick knacks, but I think I have a few new ideas now.
