The Festive Series: Top ten ways to decorate your surroundings

The Festive Series 1:10 am 405 Words  Respond?

Need ideas how to start decorating your surroundings?? I LOVE to decorate early! I still haven’t started yet to decorate the office and my little desk at home where i usually work on s-g (but working on it! Currently hunting online for the perfect way how to beautify the places!!). Here are some ideas i came by

Fairy Lights – Lots of multicolour tiny lights! They look absolutely amazing in the dark and are my absolutely favorite decoration! For those who want to save up energy, they can always use solar powered lights (& if these decorations are available in Malta, they’re bound to be available everywhere else in the world!!! ).

Traditional – Christmas Trees, Xmas Stockings, Santa Clause(s) and everything themed on the red / green / gold colour scheme! Lovely – though too common, don’t you think?

Modern – Pieces of art which look a bit less festive but look amazing to decorate with <3 The most popular colour scheme for these type of ornaments are usually Blue / Silver / Purple.

Minimalistic – Elegant and tasteful ornaments which most of the time are quite expensive … I’m not a big fan of this type of decoration

The Kawaii – a.k.a Sanrio Galore! Hah! My Dream decorations … But wouldn’t the guys at the office kill us girls for putting up too much Hello Kitty?? (I’ve already got an over kawaii desk there LOL!)

Religious – Cribs, Baby jesus’s & other saintly items. The older generation over here obsesses over only this type of house decorating!

Green Christmas – Recycling decorations! Buying only cards made from recycled paper, using older cards to make your own decorations again! The ideas are endless! Just because it’s xmas, you don’t have to abbandon your green ways!

Be Crafty! – Making all the decorations yourself can also increase the fun of decorating! There are a lot of great craft sites online & if you’re a mommy, the kiddy will love it! I know my favourite part of xmas was making my own handmade cart at school using scrap papers, and various shiney materials! *heart*

Glass Decorations – Decorating the windows and glass surfaces with fake snow spray! Pretty! A lot of people also choose to even draw on the glass or make stained glass <3

Dress up yourself! - Else, instead of decorating your house, you can always dress up your whole family & get into the spirit of things!!

On Christmas and Easter, I usually put translucent coloured paper on my window so they project different colours of light. Looks really pretty.

Almost all of our Xmas decorations are at least 10 to 25 years old. We re-use them every year because they’re not only very pretty but very durable. Almost all of our tree decorations are made from glass, so they’re not bad for the enviroment =3

Hehe, I like dressing up for Xmas XD Right now I’m eyeing for Mary Magdalene’s new A-line dress in a deep bordeaux red color. Of course, I can’t afford it, but I can always try to make one XD (A line is soooooo pretty and comfy!)

I still need to think of a present for you I hardly go into the city anymore, down here there aren’t many good shops

I recommend reading the book first. Everyone thinks the movie is gonna be horrible.
