How was YOUR weekend?? I’m back from a 2-day stay at a poshy hotel suite & still feeling very tired because of my lack of sleep! I hope to regain back the rest i lost today haha! Here is the 4bw number 42 with a special contribution from Angelica ![]()
- Do your hair differently - Get your hands on fashion or hair magazines & get yourself inspired! Of course – this doesn’t only include the snip snip hair part but it also includes ditching your usual ponytail for something a bit different and less boring for everyday wear
(a new hair bow? a new hair dye? a new bob hair-do? Extensions? & why not: a beehive!). - Go to our grandparents house… – talk about old times & get nostalgic
. I used to love visiting each saturday morning & hearing my grannies war and childhood stories over and over… & who knows? You might learn a funny story or two about your gran!
ahhh i miss those times!! - Make your own wrapping paper – Not only helping the environment, but also letting your creativity loose
! Store bought wrapping gets binned 99% of all cases, so what if the outcome isn’t exactly perfect anyway? Make a collage of your friend’s favourite things, cover it with pictures of you both or just go wild with colours! - Walk someone else’s dog – Do any of your aunts, grandparents, neighbors or friends have a dog you’re absolutely in love with?? They don’t have the time to walk him out? Have you got an afternoon to spare? Why not offer yourself to dog-sit – even taking the little tyke out for a walk would make its (& your!) day much brighter!!

The following idea was suggested by Angelica (10q for much for your frequent contributions!!!)
- It’s summer and during summer you should be outside enjoying the sunshine. Bring a blanket, a radio, a meal and a friend to your favourite park on a sunny day.
Got any suggestions of your own to be included for the next 4BW (same time, next week!)? I would love to hear from you!! Each idea of course will be credited! Send your brightest most glittering ideas through the usual contact form! ![]()
See you all next 4BW! ![]()

Wow! Those cupcakes look really good.
And those are some great ideas you have listed.
UsingJune 22nd, 2010 @ 3:24 am
i’d probably not have the courage to eat those cupcakes myself!! They’re wayy too cute
UsingJune 22nd, 2010 @ 5:08 pm
Ohh, I love this list. Thanks for your sweet comment on my blog. I’d love to create a beehive, I’ve tried to do it myself a couple of times but I suppose I’m a bit too clumsy.
UsingAnd every time I visit my grandmother she goes on and on about the second world war, she’s adorable when she gets so excited about her stories.
love

No problem for the comment!! I’m a bit clumsy too when it comes to hairdos unfortunately!! I quite envy my friends who get their upstyles themselves looking super perfect!
Ahh i miss my grandma
UsingJune 22nd, 2010 @ 10:04 pm
Well I definitely do love dogs but I don’t know any one who would let me walk theirs. hahaha. I probably will do my hair differently. But I won’t visit my grandparents. They’re not the awesome grandparents most people have. They’re..ugh so traditional that it’s annoying.
UsingJune 22nd, 2010 @ 10:24 pm
aww sorry to hear about that!!
UsingJune 23rd, 2010 @ 9:16 pm
Hey there! Thanks for the comment!
I love these ideas! I think I’m gonna try the hairstyle idea! I’ve grown my hair out for the sole purpose of being able to style it and yet it always ends up in a ponytail or bun.
UsingJune 23rd, 2010 @ 12:32 am
np for the comment
!! Glad you liked the ideas & that you’re trying one out =D
UsingJune 23rd, 2010 @ 9:17 pm
Wow, love the colours. Especially the pink hair with accessories is rad

I love contributing to your For A Brighter Week because I think it’s such a great concept!
I constantly look for small things I can do to make life just a little more exciting. Most people chase the big dreams and take everything on the way there for granted. I think every day should be an adventure and that all adventure doesn’t need to be big. That’s why I love your FBW. They’re full of all these small adventures that anyone could do that doesn’t cost a fortune but will make you happier.
I really wish I could visit my grandparents but they all live in the northern Sweden while I live in the south. By car that trip takes more than twelve hours and the distance is something like 130 European miles.
I do talk to my grandma on the phone almost every day though.
UsingJune 23rd, 2010 @ 4:09 am
=) yes! That was EXACTLY the point of me starting out the 4BW! Nowadays everyone’s always dreaming so big (& sometimes impossibble unreachable dreams!), but ignoring the small things that make one’s life truly colourful and happy =)
UsingJune 23rd, 2010 @ 9:21 pm
Haha thanks for the comment! ^_^ I get at least 30 comments on each blog though, it’s a bit hard to get them all done in the same day. I try to get the number lower before I make another post though. :P
I have recently been trying different hairstyles! I hate my hair right now because my fringe has grown out and it’s not to the point where it scoops my face, but it sticks to the side of my head and I despise tucking it behind my ears. I have been tying it up with bows and crazy ponytails; I love doing that kind of thing. XD
Sadly I don’t have any grandparents anymore and they always lived overseas (in Indonesia where my parents came from). We don’t really have any family here in Australia. My mum is thinking of having one of our young cousins study over here for part of high school and university though.
I hate spending money on gift wrapping but I guess I could get creative with it!
UsingJune 23rd, 2010 @ 5:01 am
I cut my fringe once every two months, i cut it really short but still my hair grows out sooooo quickly! One year i had at least 10 radically different cuts
(i was my hair dresser’s dream! LOL)
UsingJune 23rd, 2010 @ 9:23 pm
I guess my problem is that I stick to all of my typical hair styles.
Perhaps I should look for something more “princess-like” :P You know what I mean, hehe.. I visit my grandma often, and I love it, because it’s a relaxing time; she’s a simple but smart person, she can make me laugh like nobody else. And I love crafting, you know.. or making my own books covers with sewing stuff, paper from postage boxes, glue, etc.
That, or sewing my own plushies. ^^ Though I don’t do these things often by now (busy life).
UsingJune 23rd, 2010 @ 12:55 pm
iiiiiiiiiiii sister luuu you’d look darling in a princessy doo :3 maybe a little crown clip?

you sew your own plushies?? OMG HOW COOL :O
UsingJune 23rd, 2010 @ 9:28 pm
ahh I am just all over your blog! I need to try a new hairstyle…plain and straight ain’t working so well :P glad you had a great weekend!
I agree on what you said. Maybe she doesn’t realize hwo hurtful she’s being…hmm. It’s a tough situation, but oh well. :P
UsingJune 23rd, 2010 @ 9:15 pm
thanks for the compliment!! i hope you settle the situation with your friend soon Ali =(
UsingJune 23rd, 2010 @ 9:29 pm
Alas, I cannot visit my grandparents as out of the three sets of them, one is crazy, one lives very very far away and the other lives far away.
UsingI have made my own wrapping paper on occasion before. The outcome was rather cute if I do say so myself.
I would much prefer to walk my own dog as people out where I live would probably sue me if I attempted to walk theirs without a legally binding contract.
I could most certainly go for a new fabulous hair do right now. I wish I could pull off something colourful at work but I know I would be sent home in vain.
June 23rd, 2010 @ 10:14 pm
Haha we all get moody sometimes. It’s just how we are unfortunately haha. I guess that’s what makes life interesting though.
Hehe those all seem like fun things to do.
UsingJune 24th, 2010 @ 4:28 pm
WOW WOW WOW. i love this layout! great job!!! XD
i hated the german penpal so much! he treated me like a slave, ate all my food and was so rude! I regret doing it
Work was amazing thanks, i was constantly tired though!
how are you?

I definitely like the suggestion about visiting grandparents! I’m planning on doing that next week, and I always look forward to it. Grandparents seem to have these special magical parents that make kids feel content and loved. I also have my own dog, and it makes me happy to walk her because I love watching how thrilled she is to be going on a walk. (Those pictures are also adorable, and those cupcakes look yummy!)
UsingJune 24th, 2010 @ 7:10 pm
Making your own wrapping paper reminds me of how I make gifts for people now instea of buying them. It’s so much more thoughtful. I tend to wrap tuff in newpaper as paper. (Saves the enviroment.
)
UsingJune 24th, 2010 @ 11:24 pm
Ah, this will definitely give my days more highlights. I haven’t been doing much for summer, asides from catching up on Desperate Housewives (I’m having a marathon XD). I bought new hair accessories last week, and I should really start to use them, heh..
Your comment truly made me smile! Who knew calculators knew so much about bikinis that really fit and compliment the body shape.
UsingJune 25th, 2010 @ 11:27 pm
Afef! I haven’t visited you for ages! I’m so sorry! T^T
OMG! Those cupcakes = so cute!! I don’t think I would eat them. xD

Hi, Afef,
How is it pronounced? Afef or Ayfef?
UsingYou have a really nice name. Definitely unique
I love your layout, especially the violet tinge in it.
Since you’ve asked in your blog and I wish to rant, my weekend was pretty awful. My father is very ill, and we spent it rushing to and fro from the hospital.
I applied for advertising. Would you let me know if I am accepted?
June 27th, 2010 @ 2:06 pm
Hmm, I like Jared Leto’s hair best in the Kings And Queens video best I think. But then again, he is really gorgeous in the From Yesterday video.
Oh I’ve made my own wrapping paper before. I learned how to make handmade paper. It was ages ago but you mix everything together and you can mix leaves or petals in and you have this really nice floral, textured, handmade wrapping paper. I wish I still had the stuff to make it actually.
That picture of the girl with the pink hair is really cool. I love all the hair clips and stuff she has.

Lovely ideas :3
I really usually am stuck in a rut when it comes to hairstyling. It’s either down, blow dried straight, or its in a ponytail and out of my face. I’ve always wanted to try curling it, and I usually feel like I should do something nicer looking..I guess this would be a good time
UsingJune 29th, 2010 @ 2:40 am
I don’t think I would have been able to hide the ads forever. I mean, each layout would have to look the same, then, really. :/
After all my fuss, I’ve gotten moved into a new domain.
(I’m linking to it now.) I sometimes type in my old URL by accident and I can’t think of a matching favicon that’s not a totally boring heart (I love for my favicon to match my site name), but I think I’m doing all right so far.
Now to just get everyone to visit the new site instead of the old one….

I love those pictures, especially the last two. That package is so CUTE!
UsingJuly 1st, 2010 @ 4:46 am
Taking a dog for a walk is a great suggestion!
I walk my dog every day and it always makes me feel better. Unless it’s raining. I don’t mind but my dog hates rain, poor thing.
And I really should do something with my hair… I’ve had the same colour and hair style for years now. I don’t know if I have the guts to cut it, but new bows or hair-slides might be a good start
UsingJuly 1st, 2010 @ 8:59 am
I love your photos! They’re definitely great eye candy and I love all things cute.
I’m loving the hair suggestion. I always have my hair down because I don’t have time in the mornings, but whenever I do get a chance to do something different to it, I usually feel more fresh and prettier
The doggy walking suggestion is really cute too. Too bad I don’t know anyone with a dog. Can you believe I’ve never walked a dog before? Hopefully that will change someday haha.
UsingJuly 3rd, 2010 @ 10:59 am
Super cute ideas!! I love them. I mean the summer is for moments that count.
UsingJuly 3rd, 2010 @ 6:03 pm
Hey Afef (: I love the layout. And I’m super sorry for responding late to both your advertising application and to your comment. Forgive me for both. Life is -way over there-
Anyways, I love this 4bw idea.
It made me smile, although I haven’t done any of those, but hey they’re great ideas and just the idea of these makes me smile. If that made any sense.
Here’s a suggestion: Call someone you haven’t talked to in awhile. You know, talk it up with some old friends. Tell them hello, and make em smile or something. It’s always nice to hear from an old buddy.
And FYI, I’m putting up your link today. It’s late but today will be when your month starts. (: Sorry about that.
UsingJuly 5th, 2010 @ 3:38 am
It is alright. Thank you for linking me.

I really want to visit my Finnish grandma, but she live, of course, in Finland, and I live in Norway. Haven’t seen her in about a year or so.. I miss her

Hi! Just wanted to let you know that I’ve changed sites. If you could, please change my link to http://www.altoali.org as soon as you can!
UsingJuly 20th, 2010 @ 7:59 am
Oh my gosh, I love the things in your previous blog… some of them are soooo going on my wishlist too! I love the top inbetween the shoes and purse… I know its a bit boring, but its striking.
Heh, those puppy cakes are sweet. Very creative!
And I LOVE THAT GIRLS HAIR! I really want to dye my hair again… I dyed it red not long ago, and stripped it out when roots started showing badly… Im worried If I dye it again its going to either make my hair fall out as its really fine, or its going to take countless bottles of hair stripper to get it back to its normal colour again
I DONT KNOWWW.
Anyway, Sorry Ive been gone so long! :P Im kinda back now, and I gotta say, this layout is gorgeous, as yours always are.
x
UsingJuly 20th, 2010 @ 10:30 pm
Wow! It HAS been a while since I’ve been here, you’ve gone and changed the layout and it’s gorgeous! I absolutely love it… especially the purple.
UsingJuly 21st, 2010 @ 10:10 pm
I am CONSTANTLY looking to do new things with my hair, haha. In fact, sometimes I need to just back the heck off and STOP dyeing it. Ah well, that’s what wigs are for, right? Can’t really wear them in the summer though, it gets too hot. DX
